A HISTORIC FARMHOUSE IN THE LANGLEY COUNTRYSIDE
Working alongside the homeowners, the PlaidFox team transformed what was a decrepit farmhouse into a Gerogie Award-winning historically minded rustic retreat.
THE SIMPLE LIFE
This home is the personal residence of one of the premier home builders in Langley who had decided to relocate his family from a sprawling estate to a more character-focused family home.
THE AUTHENTIC DETAILS ARE EVERYTHING
Details like the antique wood-plank walls (reused from the property’s barn), salvaged doors, along with repurposed flooring, lighting and furniture establish the home as a legacy property that celebrates its own history.
The home sits on nearly 100 acres of wooded farmland, which now houses the family’s horse stables and blueberry farm.
DESIGN THAT BORROWS FROM CLASSIC HERITAGE FINISHES
The client didn’t want a "modern farmhouse," which is a really just a modern house with a few country-inspired touches. Instead they wanted a true, heritage farmhouse, with colour, texture, and a classic Americana feel that would survive trends and changing tastes. Their new green kitchen feels very old world with a brick hood fan, apron sink and restored 100-year-old floors. The pantry, with its mesh copper doors and glass jars, is where design and function intersect.
A TIMELESS COUNTRY HOME FOR A GROWING FAMILY
The family wanted a simpler life in the country, so we worked closely with them to build a timeless historic farm home, where nothing is too precious for their growing household; every space feels indestructible and looks effortlessly chic.
